The legend of Loch Ness is famous around the world. The vast and very deep Scottish
loch, which is reputedly home to a monstrous prehistoric creature, affectionately known as Nessie. Since Nessie hit the headlines in the 1930's millions of tourists have visited the Loch in the hope of seeing the Monster. Many of these tourists bought postcards depicting views of the Loch or of Nessie herself. This book presents a collection of these cards. Many of the cards are humorous in nature and poke fun at the idea of a monster in Loch Ness. Some cards purport to be actual photographs of Nessie such as the iconic surgeon's photograph which was taken in 1934 and only exposed as a fake some sixty years later! The book also provides a fascinating account of how the legend was born and continues to the present day.
